WebSphere Continues Market Momentum With Key Customer Wins Including Network Associates


SOMERS, NY - 20 Feb 2003: IBM today announced new customers that are using its market-leading WebSphere Internet infrastructure software to solve their e-business challenges.

IBM WebSphere is the leading software platform for e-business on demand, used by tens of thousands of customers worldwide to create, deploy and integrate business applications and enable high-volume transactions over the Web. In a further sign of its worldwide momentum in Internet infrastructure software, WebSphere's license revenue grew 21% year-to-year in 2002, far outgrowing the competition.

Recent customer wins include:

WebSphere gained significant market share in 2002 and is used by 85 percent of Fortune 100 companies, the top seven U.S. telecommunications firms, nine of the top 10 U.S. financial firms, and seven of the top 10 U.S. insurance companies.

IBM has also seen widespread success with the recently announced WebSphere -- Express offerings designed, priced and marketed specifically to help mid-market companies to integrate and manage their disparate business processes. More than 1,000 business partners have already decided to adopt WebSphere Application Server -- Express and WebSphere Portal -- Express since the products were announced late last year.

Those partners join the WebSphere ecosystem of experts, which includes more than two million registered developers, 21 partner-run WebSphere Innovation Centers, and more than 125 active worldwide WebSphere User Groups.

"The ability to fully integrate our portal solution with WebSphere Express and Lotus Domino greatly enhances our marketability within the SMB space," said Shawn Roney, e-business Professional Services Manager at Binary Tree.
