IBM Extends Lead in Server Market Share, Growing in all Segments Outpaces Dell and Others in Share Gains

ARMONK, N.Y. - 28 Feb 2003: IBM today announced that the company advanced its worldwide market share lead in the server industry to 36.2 percent, gaining over 2 points of share for the fourth quarter 2002 as compared to the same quarter last year, according to IDC's Quarterly Server Tracker.

IBM outgrew competition in every key segment: UNIX®, Intel(TM) and Linux®.

Dell trailed IBM in market share gains, increasing its share by 1.5 points over the same quarter a year earlier.

In UNIX servers IBM gained 3.2 points of share and captured 30.1 percent of revenue.

In Intel servers IBM gained 2.4 points of share and captured 18.9 percent of revenue.

In Linux servers IBM gained 1.2 points of share and captured 20.4 percent of revenue.
