LAS VEGAS - 05 May 2009: At the IMPACT 2009 conference, IBM (NYSE: IBM) today announced new products and services designed to help partners and developers utilize social media tools to compete more effectively.
As part of today’s announcement, IBM detailed new social media tools, education programs and technologies targeted especially for the IBM business partner, ISV and developer communities. Included in these are:
- SOAsocial – The first social network created especially for the SOA community. This will allow partners and clients to follow SOA relevant social activities and actively participate in SOA conversations across SOA communities.
- IBM WebSphere Application Server Developer Edition - available to developers at no charge for use on the developer desktop. Simplifies access to IBM’s market leading application server for a fast project start by helping developers overcome burdensome internal approval and procurement processes.
- IBM Spaces – New micro-websites focused on a specific software project, development activity, user group community, technical expert, or any other technical subject of interest to partners and clients.
- Updates to the SOA sandbox – The hands-on environment will help developers and partners to learn about the SOA software portfolio. Included in the updates are new exercises and industry business patterns
- SOA Business Catalog – A redesign of this resource that provides business partners and customers with access to more than 23,500 tested SOA assets and helps in the development of their solutions.
- Innov8 – an update of IBM’s “serious” game that delivers a complete redesign of the game and moves it beyond the university classroom to become a business training tool. Innov8 v.2 features a new, online global “collaboration feature” that allows players to work within a virtual team to progress to the next level of the game.
With more than 8,000 customers and 7,400 Business Partners, IBM continues to build on its SOA market leadership. In fact industry analyst Wintergreen recently announced that IBM is number one in SOA marketshare with 70 percent of the worldwide SOA market, a six percent increase over last year.
