IBM Recognizes Customers for Driving SOA and Business Impact

LAS VEGAS, NV - 05 May 2009: IBM (NYSE: IBM) today recognized eight clients for their outstanding dedication to building and implementing innovative solutions using an SOA approach on the IBM WebSphere platform. IBM's first annual IMPACT SOA Industry Customer Case Study Awards recognize customers with SOA Case Studies who are delivering high business value based on service oriented architecture (SOA) and integration with WebSphere.

The awards are being presented at IMPACT 2009, IBM's worldwide customer event focused on the SOA market. SOA is among the fastest-growing segments of the information technology industry and IBM offers the most comprehensive portfolio of software, services and hardware for building, maintaining and extending SOA environments.

SOA can help companies build, extend, and transform their existing infrastructures incrementally over time, by allowing multiple systems to consume and re-use business services, and provide web-based collaboration throughout their industry communities. The customers being recognized today have demonstrated a unique ability to implement and extend SOA solutions that solve their business challenges in non-traditional ways in order to improve efficiency, flexibility, and control of key business processes.

"These customers have embraced the SOA strategy and have established a leadership position in their respective markets," states Sandy Carter, vice president of Strategy, Marketing, and Channels for IBM SOA and WebSphere. "IBM continues to help customers around the world realize the benefits of SOA and WebSphere."
