Pamplona, Spain - 25 Sep 2008: Pamplona City Council has put in place a plan to implement a new internal communications solution in its 30 offices that will contribute to reduce phone expenses, offer an enhanced citizen service and increase staff’s productivity. With this project, Ayuntamiento de Pamplona is taking a further step in its support for innovation combining all the advantages of traditional telephone communications with the new possibilities that information technologies bring.
City Council workers will have access to the following new functionalities:
- Automatic start-up of any type of phone call (click-to-call) from the computer
- Check voice mail, emails, directories and other functions from the PC or telephone.
- Register in any IP phone in the system and have his or her full phone profile (extension, call permission, etc.) at this terminal.
- When the extension receives a call, the system sends it to both numbers (extension and mobile) and the user answers from the most suitable terminal at the time.
According Pamplona City Council sources “this project is the first return of the investment made in 2006 to implement a broadband integrated communication network. Currently, this network covers 70% of desktops and continues growing. The rest of the City Council offices, up to 90% of the total, it is integrated in another network, but both of them are interconnected”. ”
IBM has designed and will implement a unified communications platform based on Avaya telephone solutions integrated with IBM Lotus Sametime 8.0 (that is used daily for more than 20 million users to have immediate access to the persons and information that they need). The deal was signed in Q2 2008.
