IBM and Storebaelt Ltd. in New 3-Year Services Contract

COPENHAGEN, DENMARK - 27 Jun 2008: Storebaelt Ltd., the company managing the toll bridge connecting central parts of Denmark, has signed a three year agreement with IBM (NYSE: IBM) for IBM to manage Storebaelt's information technology (IT) infrastructure and services.

The Great Belt Fixed Link, opened in 1998, is the largest engineering project in the history of Denmark.

The Link consists of a 6,790 meter long suspension bridge linking Zealand -- where the Danish capital Copenhagen is located -- and the small island of Sprogoe, a 6,611 meter combined rail and road bridge between Sprogoe and Funen, and a 8,000 m rail tunnel between Zealand and Sprogoe. At 254 meters above sea level, the East Bridge's two pylons are the highest points in Denmark.

The number of cars crossing the bridge has tripled since the opening of the bridge 10 years ago. In May 2008, nearly one million vehicles crossed the bridge -- and traffic growth is continuing.

This growth has placed increased pressure on IT systems, compounded by the need for additional IT solutions for employees, customers and partners to access bridge information through web-based Customer Relationship Management (CRM) solutions. This makes for increased complexity within the IT environment with heightened demands on security, resiliency, and flexibility and IBM is delivering a robust IT environment with high availability.

"IBM's goal is to provide Storebaelt with the best quality IT Services in order to help the company manage its future growth," says Sven Kolstrup, Country Executive Manager, Global Technology Services, IBM Denmark.

IBM has provided services to Storebaelt Ltd. for the past 18 years, working closely with the company to develop, maintain, and monitor Storebaelt's dynamic IT infrastructure. A dedicated on-site IBM team works closely with Storebaelt's own IT managers.

The agreement was signed on June 2, 2008.
