ARMONK, NY - 20 May 2008: IBM (NYSE: IBM) today introduced a new set of capabilities to its Telelogic DOORS® family of products. These new features will help complex systems engineering and enterprise IT organizations more effectively define and manage requirements to meet business goals.
Additions to the DOORS family of products include the latest release of Telelogic DOORS 9 as well as the introduction of DOORS Web Access™, DOORS/TraceLine™, and an integration with the Microsoft® Visual Studio® Team Foundation Server.
“With systems and software becoming increasingly complex, organizations need to define and manage requirements across globally distributed development teams,” said Richard Crisp, Executive Vice President, Requirements Management Product Division, Telelogic, An IBM Company. “With a comprehensive set of requirements lifecycle management offerings, IBM’s Telelogic portfolio helps organizations develop systems and software to better meet the needs of their customers.”
The Telelogic DOORS family of requirements lifecycle management offerings sets a new standard for defining and managing requirements. With DOORS, business and development teams can define, review, analyze and change requirements, trace progress toward goals, collaborate and validate results. New graphical views allow individuals across many disciplines to easily grasp the relationships between requirements and business goals in large, complex projects.
By promoting broader collaboration, Telelogic DOORS ensures that systems, products and IT applications better meet the needs of their customers. With new ways to view, discuss and manage traceability among requirements, organizations can manage complex systems and software, conform to requirements, and comply with regulations.
New Telelogic DOORS Capabilities
New DOORS 9.0 capabilities that lower the cost of enterprise-scale implementation include the Telelogic Directory Service. This service provides common user administration across multiple DOORS servers, with other Telelogic products, and with 3rd party products via LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol). In addition, informal, collaborative discussions on requirements can be conducted while the requirements document is still evolving.
With the introduction of DOORS/TraceLine and DOORS Web Access, as well as the Telelogic DOORS integration for use with Microsoft Team Foundation Server, global teams gain an unprecedented set of powerful new capabilities that provide broader, more intuitive visibility into the requirements process and control over projects as they evolve. These new capabilities include:
- Telelogic DOORS Web Access – This Rich Internet Application facilitates access to requirements in the DOORS database through a Web browser, allowing participation in the requirements review and discussion process from anywhere in the world, without the need to install client software.
- Telelogic DOORS/TraceLine – This new add-in provides organizations with a clearer, more focused view of complex projects by enabling them to graphically visualize, browse and manage DOORS information and traceability structures.
- Microsoft® Visual Studio® Team Foundation Server Integration – This Telelogic DOORS integration, for use with Microsoft Team Foundation Server, helps development teams using Visual Studio tools to create and maintain traceability between requirements in DOORS and work items in Team Foundation Server via simple drag-and-drop. Now, development teams using Team Foundation Server can improve their requirements process using DOORS and its support for traceability into the Microsoft development environment.
Availability
Telelogic DOORS/TraceLine is available now. Telelogic DOORS 9, Telelogic DOORS Web Access and the Telelogic DOORS integration for use with Microsoft Team Foundation Server will be available in the second quarter 2008.
