IBM Recognizes Business Partners for Driving SOA Innovation and Business Impact

LAS VEGAS, NV - 08 Apr 2008: IMPACT 2008 -- IBM (NYSE: IBM) today recognized four Business Partners for their outstanding dedication to building and implementing innovative solutions using the IBM WebSphere platform. IBM's second annual IMPACT Business Partner Awards recognize business partners who are providing customers with cutting-edge solutions based on service oriented architecture (SOA) and integration with WebSphere.

The awards are being presented at IMPACT 2008, IBM's worldwide customer event focused on the burgeoning $160 billion SOA market. SOA is among the fastest-growing segments of the information technology industry and IBM offers the most comprehensive portfolio of software, services and hardware for building, maintaining and extending SOA environments.

IBM has worked with its more than 5,000 Business Partners to develop a thriving SOA community including monthly interaction with over 120,000 architects and developers and more than 134 universities leveraging the IBM SOA curriculum. IBM SOA Business Partners are able to interact globally through the SOA Social Network in order build skills, share best practices, and find solutions to problems.

SOA can help companies build, extend, and transform their existing infrastructures incrementally over time, by allowing multiple systems to consume and re-use business services, and provide web-based collaboration throughout their industry communities. The business partners being recognized today have demonstrated a unique ability to develop and sell SOA solutions that solve customer challenges in non-traditional ways in order to improve efficiency, flexibility, and control of key business processes.

"These business partners have embraced the SOA strategy and have established a leadership position in their respective markets," states Sandy Carter, vice president of Strategy, Marketing, and Channels for IBM SOA and WebSphere. "IBM continues to work closely with its business partner community to develop and sell solutions to help customers around the world realize the benefits of SOA and WebSphere."
