This latest report from IDC titled "IDC Worldwide Branded Tape 2Q'07 Vendor Analysis" marks the 14th consecutive quarter that IBM has held the number-one position in worldwide branded total tape revenue. In the five year history of IDC tracking quarterly branded tape revenue results, IBM is the only company to have fourteen consecutive quarters of worldwide branded tape revenue leadership.
"Addressing different storage access and retention requirements today is a significant challenge for IT administrators," said Cindy Grossman, Vice President, Tape Storage Solutions, IBM. "Exploiting a tiered storage hierarchy that includes disk, tape and virtualization can significantly address this challenge -- and its clear from fourteen consecutive quarters of leadership that IBM's tape and archive offerings are addressing total cost of ownership, energy, data protection, data security, compliance and archive issues for customers."
