First Data and IBM to Provide Comprehensive "One-Stop" E-Commerce Services to Small and Medium Businesses

MELVILE, NY - 18 May 1999: . . . First Data Merchant Services Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of First Data Corporation (NYSE: FDC), and IBM (NYSE: IBM) today unveiled plans to deliver a suite of comprehensive e-commerce services to enable small and medium businesses to build online storefronts and begin transacting Internet commerce -- complete with online payment solutions -- within a matter of hours.

Under terms of the agreement between IBM and First Data, IBM HomePage Creator for e-business, an industry-leading Web authoring, maintenance and hosting service, will be incorporated with components of the First Data and iMall Inc. (Nasdaq) joint e-commerce offering to together provide the key elements required for merchants to quickly and easily begin selling products and services over the Internet.

"This innovative offering will provide small and medium businesses access to the services they need to establish a merchant account, to take online credit card orders over the Internet in a security-rich environment, and help drive traffic to their Web sites," said Sanjaya Addanki, vice president, hosted business application services, IBM Global Services. "They also will have the assurance of working with the industry leaders in information technology services, online credit card processing and virtual storefronts."

As a result of today's announcement, new HomePage Creator customers will have access to First Data and iMALL's e-commerce features including:
