The deal builds on existing contracts between A.P. Moller-Maersk and IBM, covering operations and support. As a part of the new agreement, IBM will be responsible for providing integrated end-to-end facility management services, including managing a considerable part of A.P. Moller-Maersk's business solutions and IT operations.
"This agreement will strengthen our business with a scalable and flexible infrastructure. It will also enable us to reduce costs significantly -- building on IBM's global delivery capability," says Eivind Kolding, partner and head of the container business of the A.P. Moller-Maersk Group.
"We are committed to helping A.P. Moller-Maersk focus on their core business. This agreement will enable A.P. Moller-Maersk to enhance cost leadership and further improve their IT environment by taking advantage of our industry and technology knowledge and leading edge capabilities," says Jens Munch-Hansen, regional general manager, IBM Nordic.
The agreement was signed in March 2007.
