IBM Introduces New IT Infrastructure Solutions for Small and Medium Sized Businesses

New Tivoli, Managed Services and Grid Computing Offerings Extends IBM Support for SMB Customer Innovation

WHITE PLAINS, NY - 24 Apr 2006: Today IBM introduced three new Express Advantage offerings specially designed to help small and medium sized businesses (SMBs) maintain enterprise-wide security and overcome business process challenges inhibiting growth and innovation. Express Advantage allows customers to benefit from IBM's technical strength and business insight in tailored offerings that are priced and scaled to meet the unique needs of the SMB market.

The new additions to Express Advantage include IBM Tivoli Directory Integrator Express, IBM Express Desktop Management Services, and IBM® Grid and Grow™ Express.

Today's announcement extends IBM's commitment to addressing customer requirements in the SMB space, and builds on the findings of IBM's recent Global SMB Innovation Survey. The survey, conducted in February among executives from SMB organizations around the globe, illustrates that enterprise-wide security, process integration, access to capital, and business continuity and recovery are among the leading business concerns faced by the mid-market. The new Express Advantage offerings are the latest in a line of offerings from IBM that address these top-of-mind business challenges, putting security solutions and innovations like the power of grid computing in the hands of SMB customers.

These new offerings build on the IBM Express Advantage initiative launched at IBM PartnerWorld in March 2006. IBM Express Advantage combines IBM's Express offerings and financing with new IBM Business Partner resources and customer experience tools, providing SMB customers with comprehensive, end-to-end resources that help drive growth and innovation. For example, under IBM Financing Advantage customers gain easy access to capital, leases, loans and buyback services for the complete solution, including IBM Business Partner services. IBM Financing Advantage offers pricing, credit and ready-to-sign contracts in less than one hour, as well as a Web process that enables the generation of proposals and contracts online.

New SMB Offerings

IBM Tivoli Directory Integrator Express -- helps to maintain accurate and secure identity data across all applications in an organization. TDIX takes identity data from a trusted source, such as a human resources application, and ensures that the data is correctly shared with other applications. Available in June.

IBM Express Desktop Management Services -- a fully integrated, Web-based suite of services designed to improve the security and uptime of the customer IT environment, while increasing the productivity of its IT staff. The service provides customers with visibility of IT assets and installed software across their organization, including remote users and distributed sites, enabling easy management of desktop and laptop assets. Prices start as low as $5 per seat per month and are sold in 10-seat packs (20 seat minimum). Available in the US and Canada beginning in May, and the Netherlands and Germany beginning in June.

IBM® Grid and Grow™ Express -- a complete package, including hardware, software and services, that enables first-time customers to take advantage of grid technology. The offering consists of BladeCenter with seven blades, along with a choice of server architectures, operating systems, schedulers and services that tie these technologies together. This package positions SMBs for future growth, as well as provides the technology to address business challenges associated with mission critical, compute-intensive applications. Available at $1,369 per month for a 36 month term. Available in the US, the UK, Canada, Germany, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Israel, Turkey, and Luxembourg.

Business Partner Ecosystem

In April 2005, IBM launched the Built on IBM Express initiative to engage IBM Business Partners who have built solutions on IBM Express offerings. Under this initiative, Business Partners who have built solutions on at least one IBM Express offering can use a Built on IBM Express trademark that signifies their solution has been successfully installed in a SMB environment. Business Partners also have the opportunity to promote their solution on an IBM Express Website in selected countries. More than 350 IBM Business Partners worldwide have participated in Built on IBM Express since its launch last year.
