Recording Academy and IBM Unveil First-time Grammy e-store

Official GRAMMY Merchandise -- Never Before Available to General Public -- to be Sold Online at GRAMMY.com

SANTA MONICA, Calif. & ARMONK, N.Y - 22 Feb 2000: - There are some things money can't buy -- even in Hollywood. Until now, official GRAMMY merchandise was among them. For the first time, as part of the expanded 2000 GRAMMY Webcast -- the official Webcast of the 42nd Annual GRAMMY Awards -- The Recording Academy and IBM have launched an online shop, giving the public access to such specialty items as GRAMMY jackets, caps, shirts, mugs and more. The shop is located in the "GRAMMY Goods" section of www.grammy.com.

The Recording Academy sees the online store as a perfect opportunity to extend its brand around the world, involve fans of the GRAMMYs more fully in the show and the organization behind it, and make available to the public some outstanding GRAMMY logo wearables and collectibles. Just as the Academy acknowledges the growing importance of the Web in the music world, it has itself embraced the power of the Internet as a valuable and efficient tool to extend its own reach.

Among the items available are: the official crew jacket of the 42nd Annual GRAMMY Awards made of fine lambskin leather, official logo polo shirts, fleece pullovers, sweatshirts, baseball caps and mugs in addition to such organizational items as the official GRAMMY Program book, Winners book and video presentations of GRAMMY SoundTables, professional education programs that offer the insight of today's best recording artists and technical professionals.

IBM, which is sponsoring, designing, hosting and co-developing GRAMMY.com, has also built this e-commerce solution as an enhanced feature for the 2000 GRAMMY Webcast.

The Official GRAMMY Webcast features exclusive, live coverage of the rehearsals for the GRAMMY Awards, including chats with artists, streaming audio interviews and a sneak peek at all the action via the GRAMMY Cams. The GRAMMY Webcast will culminate on the day of the show, February 23, with coverage of all 98 GRAMMY Awards.

The 42nd Annual GRAMMY Awards will broadcast live on February 23 from Staples Center in Los Angeles. The show will be broadcast domestically on the CBS Television Network from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. (Live on the East Coast; tape delayed in the West).
