Siebel Systems to Bring Industry-Leading eBusiness Applications to IBM's AS/400 Platform

IBM and Siebel Systems Partner to Enable Over 200,000 Companies to More Effectively Build and Manage Long-Term Customer Relationships

SAN MATEO, Calif. & SOMERS, N.Y - 29 Jun 2000: -- Siebel Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:SEBL), the world's leading provider of eBusiness applications software, today announced support for IBM's AS/400e server platform, with general availability of Siebel eBusiness 2000 Applications on IBM AS/400 servers expected before the end of the calendar year. With Siebel eBusiness Applications, companies that rely on the AS/400 can leverage a single source of customer information to enhance sales and service across multiple channels, including the Web, call centers, field, resellers, retail, and dealer networks. By tailoring sales and service offerings to meet the unique needs of each customer, these organizations can shift from a process-centric approach to eBusiness to one focused on building strong and long-lasting customer relationships.

Siebel's support for the AS/400 signals a new phase in the joint product development and integration work between IBM and Siebel that has yielded customer-focused eBusiness solutions for leading organizations worldwide. Over 200,000 companies use AS/400 servers to run mission-critical applications, with AS/400 platforms increasingly deployed in integrated eBusiness solutions that enhance communication and collaboration between organizations and their customers, partners, and suppliers.

IBM and Siebel Systems are also working jointly to provide customers with a smooth migration path to AS/400-based solutions. Siebel Systems will utilize the AS/400e Integrated Netfinity Server for the application server and IBM's DB2 for the database server, allowing organizations to deploy Siebel's eBusiness Applications today on IBM's DB2 Universal Database for NT and then quickly migrate to IBM's Universal Database for AS400 when the AS/400 versions of Siebel eBusiness Applications become available. In conjunction with this joint development, IBM and Siebel Systems have committed to an AS/400-specific worldwide joint marketing and collaborative selling initiative.
