ATLANTA, GA. - 26 Feb 2001: IBM today strengthened its commitment to help companies manage massive amounts of data, swelling the ranks of its content management business partners to more than 300.

Among the Business Partners supporting IBM Content Manager, are ActionPoint, Aureus Solutions, Image Architects, Siebel Systems, Inc., Silicon Plains Technologies, Steelpoint and Syscom Inc.

The enterprise content management market is expected to exceed $10 billion by 2004," said Andrew Warzecha, vice president, META Group. "As organizations increasingly seek single source strategic solutions, vendors that can support the broadest set of 'content' in a integrated environment will benefit the most. Indeed, we have already seen this over the last 12 months with vendors like IBM growing significantly at the expense of niche solution providers."

As e-infrastructures become more complex, companies are finding it necessary to manage different forms of unstructured information, including text documents, computer print output, scanned images, video and audio and integrate it with existing transactional systems. The newest version of IBM's Content Manager software helps companies better leverage information often stored in multiple repositories and in multiple formats. By giving companies the ability to access content from multiple sources and integrating them through IBM's unique federated search technology, IBM Content Manager is becoming more critical in enabling customer service, enterprise resource planning and supply chain management applications. IBM Content Manager V7.1 includes the following enhancements:

Additionally, for those companies looking to focus on the application of transforming digital video and audio into training and communication tools, IBM has enhanced its Content Manager VideoCharger V7.1, a core component of IBM's enterprise Content Management portfolio. IBM VideoCharger is a streaming media product that allows companies to access audio and video libraries for applications such as corporate training and education.
