Web Integrators, Hosters and Incubators Now to Provide IBM Offering for Internet Start-Ups

Quick Launch offers more products and expanded opportunities through more categories of qualified IBM Business Partners

PARTNERWORLD 2001, ATLANTA, GA - 26 Feb 2001: IBM today announced expansions to its Internet start-up offering, Quick Launch for e-business Ventures, making it accessible to qualifying Web integrators, hosters and incubators in addition to qualified resellers who are IBM Business Partners. The changes are also designed to make the offering more competitive for IBM Business Partners and their customers by providing a wider range of products with attractive pricing and financing terms.

Delivered exclusively through IBM Business Partners, Quick Launch is IBM's comprehensive offering for Internet businesses featuring a suite of products, services, education, support and financing. It aims to minimize a company's upfront expenses, improve cash flow and speed their time to market.

With the new additions, Quick Launch now delivers:
A wider range of IBM hardware at competitive prices including the full eServer* family of servers including high-end server and mainframe products, Web Hosting and Storage Appliances, as well as additional accessories;
An aggressive pricing structure on infrastructure development tools and updates including WebSphere*, DB2* Universal Database, Lotus Domino**, IBM Voice Systems* and wireless software products as well as Linux*** and Chili!Soft**** AIX* offerings; Education via IBM Learning Services Satellite Network at no charge for 12 months;
Support via SupportLine for up to 10 hours during the first six months at no charge; and
Attractive financing options, provided by IBM Global Financing, including a six-month deferment on the initial payment and a 24-month lease.

"The Internet business marketplace continues to show the strongest growth according to analysts' reports," said Jim Corgel, general manager of IBM's Global Net Generation Business. "By expanding the range of business partners who provide Quick Launch, we are increasing the value to our customers and helping more business partners get a cut of this lucrative market."

Quick Launch focuses on establishing added value through IBM Business Partners, helping make these relationships critical factors during an Internet company's development and growth. In return, IBM Business Partners providing Quick Launch gain the opportunity to build relationships with these customers from their inception and expand that relationship as the start-up matures.

"The IBM Quick Launch offering has enabled Symatrix Technology to pursue new business opportunities and allowed us to deliver high quality solutions to customers who may not have done business with IBM or Symatrix," said Michael Madigan, executive vice president at Symatrix Technology. "We are delighted at how IBM has worked with business partner feedback to make Quick Launch even easier to deliver. We'll offer it even more as a result."

The new enhancements to Quick Launch for e-business Ventures are currently available in the United States and Canada only. IBM Business Partners selling Quick Launch must be affiliated with an IBM distributor and carry the appropriate IBM technical certifications. IBM Business Partners and customers must be qualified and registered through the IBM Quick Launch Project Office.
