LONDON, UK - 26 Sep 2001: A report from independent analyst firm IDC shows that Tivoli software from IBM holds the #1 position in the fast-growing authentication, authorization and administration (3A) security software market in Europe.

Tivoli leads with 15.85 percent of the security 3A software market and US$117.6 million of revenue in Europe. Other providers include Computer Associates, Ubizen, RSA and Groupe Bull.

IBM security software revenue comes from its Tivoli software portfolio of access, identity and risk management software, including flagship products such as Tivoli Policy Director and Tivoli Risk Manager.

Security 3A software, comprised of authentication, authorization and administration software, accounted for 53.6 percent of the total IT security software market in 2000 and grew at a compound annual growth rate of 26.9 percent--faster than other security software segments such as firewall, anti-virus and encryption software.

"This fast-growing security software segment is at the heart of a company's strategy to build trusted relationships with customers partners, suppliers and channels," said Thomas Raschke, Program Manager, European Internet Security, IDC. "Authentication, authorization and administration software enables organizations to open their internal networks, servers, applications and content external access via the Internet securely."

"Security 3A software will continue to grow in importance as CIOs and line of business executives work to secure their e-business infrastructure and migrate sensitive customer, partner and supplier relationships to Web-based transactions," said Robert LeBlanc, general manager, Tivoli Software, IBM Software Group. "Being recognized by IDC as #1 in this fast-growing security segment, where Tivoli software continues to innovate and lead, is important to us and our customers."
