Dec. 11, 2007 -- At the Hollywood Goes Green conference today, IBM announced it is applying its Project Big Green initiative to uniquely address energy efficiency for the media and entertainment industry. To dramatically lower energy consumption, IBM is designing new technologies that will use 50 percent less power, increase compute capacity by a factor of 10 and eliminate the need for air conditioning in data centers altogether -- all by 2010. With its power-intensive computing needs, the media and entertainment industry will be one of the key beneficiaries of this ambitious undertaking.
