Clay Luthy is the Global Distributed Energy Resource Manager for IBM’s Energy & Utilities industry. In this role, he is focused on building a relevant ecosystem, defining corporate initiatives, working with IBM brands to maximize revenue, and determining IBM's go-to-market strategy across the Electric Vehicle Management, Demand Management, Distributed Generation, and Distributed Storage technology areas.
Prior to joining IBM, Clay worked in Product Management for a venture-backed distributed energy resource management company located in Washington DC where he focused on building out the electric vehicle charge management and demand management solutions. Prior to this, he was in Toyota's Leadership Development Rotational Program where he primarily focused on advanced product strategy initiatives such as defining future transportation needs, managing electric vehicle concept programs and identifying new growth opportunities for hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles. Additionally, Clay worked as a consultant for SC Johnson & Sons creating a market entry strategy for a new product in West Africa and worked in institutional investing for Fidelity Investments in Boston.
Clay holds a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Michigan and a Bachelors degree from Kenyon College. Currently he lives in Washington DC.
