Full biography
Tom Rosamilia is the general manager of the System z Division for IBM Systems & Technology Group, responsible for all facets of IBM's mainframe business including strategy, marketing, sales, operations, technology development and overall financial performance.
Prior to his current role, Mr. Rosamilia was the general manager of IBM’s WebSphere software division, where he led an organization across software development, marketing, services, and sales professionals spanning more than 34 locations worldwide.
He previously held several other executive positions within the IBM Software Group, including: vice president, WebSphere, responsible for product management and development of WebSphere and Industry Solutions portfolios, VP of Development for Data Management (including the DB2 Universal Database, Data Management Tools, IMS, Business Intelligence Solutions, and Informix portfolios) and IBM Silicon Valley Laboratory general manager.
Mr. Rosamilia joined IBM in 1983 as a software developer for the MVS operating system, and he held a variety of programming and management positions in software development in the s/390 organization. In 1996, he was appointed to a director position in product management for s/390 software. In 1998, he assumed the role of VP, s/390 Software Development, responsible for overall software development for the zSeries platform, including z/OS, VM, VSE and Linux for zSeries.
He received his bachelor's degree from Cornell University, with majors in computer science and economics. He has also served on the boards of the United Way of Dutchess County, the United Way of Silicon Valley, the Silicon Valley Manufacturing Group and the California Manufacturing and Technology Association.
