Full biography

Steve joined IBM in 1978. During his career, Steve has held numerous management and executive positions in Sales and Marketing with a focus on distribution, banking, media and insurance customers. Additionally, Steve has built a wealth of experience in the development and growth of startup businesses and in international sales and marketing.

Significant assignments include: product manager for IBM's Storage Systems products, branch manager for IBM's New York media sales office, executive assistant to IBM's Communications Product Division president, director of multimedia marketing, director of Marketing for IBM's multimedia venture capital startup (Fireworks Partners), and general manager of the European e-business Business Unit.

Steve has held positions in IBM's software organizations with responsibility for Worldwide Sales Operations, Emerging Markets, Solution Developers and Small/Growing businesses and vice president, Software, for IBM Americas.

In July of 2000 Steve was named to vice president, Linux Sales & Marketing, where he was responsible for developing and executing IBM's go-to-market strategies for Linux. In April of 2002 he was named general manager, Linux.

In December of 2002, Steve was appointed transition executive to oversee the acquisition and integration of Rational into IBM.

In July of 2003, Steve returned to the IBM Americas organization as vice president, Software. He was named general manager, IBM Global General Business in July of 2005.

Steve holds an MBA in marketing and finance from Clarkson College.
