Full biography

Ross A. Mauri leads IBM's Power Systems business, which addresses a worldwide market of more than $25 billion – representing nearly one-half of all spending by clients on servers.  The Power Systems portfolio supports the AIX, i and Linux operating environments and spans all IBM systems based on industry-leading Power Architecture, including POWER6 and Cell microprocessors.  Power 595 is the world’s fastest single server capable of performing more than 6 million transactions per second.  Roadrunner, the world’s fastest clustered computer with sustained petaflop performance (one thousand trillion calculations per second), is #1 on the Top500 Supercomputer list and #3 on the Green500 list of the world’s most energy efficient supercomputers. 

Since joining IBM in 1980, Mr. Mauri has held various management positions in programming, design, development, quality assurance and marketing.  In 1993, he was appointed director of the Paris-based Client/Server Computing unit overseeing strategy in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and later served as general manager of Software Marketing for EMEA.  In 1995, Mr. Mauri was appointed technical assistant to IBM's Chairman and CEO.  He held several executive positions in the S/390 mainframe business, including hardware development, marketing, solutions and strategy, and led the development and marketing of IBM's UNIX and Linux initiatives.  In 2003, he became vice president, development, IBM Systems Group, leading a global organization responsible for IBM's industry-leading server and storage platforms. 

Mr. Mauri is a member of the IBM corporate Performance Team and Integration & Values Team, and serves on the board of governors of the IBM Academy of Technology. 

He is a sponsor and participant in many diversity and next generation leadership initiatives with organizations across the IT industry, including Women in Technology, Leadership Education for Asian Pacifics and Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers.  In 2002, he conceived and launched a new external diversity program, Men Understanding Science and Technology, to help African American and Hispanic male high school and middle school students increase their math and science skills.  Mr. Mauri earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in computer mathematics from Marist College and serves on the Marist College Board of Trustees.
