Gerd Weishaar

Program Manager, WW Open Source Strategy & Business Development, IBM

 

 

            Gerd Weishaar, Program Manager, WW Open Source Strategy & Business Development, is responsible for the strategy and execution of IBM’s Open Source Business, which is building upon the strong success of its Linux business to seize upon the market opportunity for customers benefiting from Open Source and Open Standards technologies and business models beyond Linux.

 

            Prior to his current responsibilities, Dr. Weishaar was a part of IBM Rational’s Strategic Marketing Team where he oversaw on business strategies for areas including  Open Source, emerging business opportunities, and the automated software quality assurance market.

 

            Dr. Weishaar has an M.S. in Computer Sciences from The Johannes Kepler University Linz, Austria (1995).  He also received his Ph.D. in Technical Science from The Johannes Kepler University Linz, Austria (1999).  Dr. Weishaar is currently enrolled in the MIT Sloan Fellows Program for Innovation and Global Leadership where he is expected to graduate with a MBA in 2007.
