					<title>University of Southampton invests £3 million in UK’s most powerful university-owned supercomputer</title>

					World-class research at the University of Southampton is getting a multi-million pound boost with the purchase of a new supercomputer, built using IBM iDataPlex server technology and capable of over 74 trillion calculations per second.  

The new supercomputer, containing more than 2000 Intel Quad Core Processors, will be used by leading-edge researchers across the University to make highly complex computations in fields ranging from cancer research to climate change. It will be the first IBM System iDataPlex in a UK university and one of the 100 most powerful supercomputers in the world (based on the June 2009 Top 500 list at www.top500.org).

					<title>Hertford Regional College selects IBM to save £300k and reduce carbon footprint</title>

					Hertford Regional College (HRC) announced today that it has chosen IBM (NYSE:IBM) to help re-design its IT infrastructure to deliver energy cost savings of around £300,000, and reduce its carbon footprint by 860 tonnes over the next three years. The new system, which is set to launch when the academic year begins in September will also provide increased network speeds of ten gigabits per second enabling the use of high quality video content and CCTV, making the environment a better and safer place for HRC’s 12,000 students and staff.

					<title>IBM system in Warsaw University is the most energy efficient supercomputer in the world</title>

					The Green 500 report (www.green500.org) announced yesterday found that the most energy efficient supercomputer in the world is the IBM system installed in the Interdisciplinary Centre for Mathematical and Computational Modelling (ICM), at the University of Warsaw. Nautilus is a development system for hybrid computer architectures - runs on Linux and it is based on QS22 Blade servers. It produces more than 536 Mflops (millions of floating point operations per second) per one watt.  Nautilus has been ranked  221 in the latest Top500 list (www.top500.org) of supercomputers, which was announced earlier this week.
