London, UK - 08 Jan 2013: IBM has named David Stokes as Chief Executive of IBM in the UK & Ireland. David succeeds Stephen Leonard who moves to become General Manager, Global Markets, Systems and Technology Group.
David began his IBM career in his native Australia and has been an IBM UK employee since 1994 where he has held a number of senior executive positions. Previously, he has worked in IBM’s Growth Markets as Vice President, General Business based in Shanghai and most recently he was based in Prague as General Manager, IBM Central and Eastern Europe. David has also held numerous leadership roles across the UK and Europe in Software Group, Competitive Sales and General Business.
David graduated with First Class Honours and the University Medal in Engineering from Sydney University. He is a citizen of both Australia and the UK and currently lives with his wife and two children in the UK.
He will be located at IBM's Southbank offices in London with his new appointment effective 7th January 2013
