Finalists Announced as search for New Zealand’s Best Workplaces of 2013 continues


Auckland, New Zealand - 01 Oct 2013: Kenexa, an IBM Company (NYSE: IBM) and global provider of business solutions for human resources, today announced the finalists in its Best Workplaces Survey in New Zealand.

Today, companies are looking for ways to plug into the pulse of their workforce, rather than rely on a static view of their organisation. The Kenexa Best Workplaces Survey, unique to New Zealand, is the country’s largest annual ‘employer of choice’ programme and study of workplace climate and employee engagement.

Nearly 39,000 employees from 243 organisations, across both private and public sectors, participated in 2013.  This year, 43 companies have reached finalist status across five categories; Small, Small-Medium, Medium-Large, Large and Enterprise – a new category established for the 2013 awards.

By collecting data on the opinions of employees, companies get a more complete analysis of their workforce, identifying areas that make their workplace great as well as which areas they can improve to increase levels of engagement. At the same time, companies gain a more accurate view of what they can leverage to enable and retain critical talent.

Kenexa has seen the number of larger organisations participating in the survey increase by 45% since 2008, as companies recognise that high levels of employee engagement can positively impact the bottom line of their business

“This type of organisation will often work with a broader geographical spread of employees and complex organisational structures, so we’ve established the ‘Enterprise’ category to recognise the unique challenges these companies strive to overcome, as well as demonstrate it is possible for them to do so.”

The finalists for 2013 represent the broad spectrum of New Zealand business; from automotive to IT, travel to consumer goods and many more. 58% of finalists in 2013 also achieved finalist status in 2012, demonstrating the success of employee engagement programmes and the increasing importance employers are placing on maintaining them.

Finalists in the Large (400-749 employees) Workplace category are:
