Dougal Watt

Full biography

Dougal is IBM New Zealand's Chief Technologist and Co-Chair of the NZ Square Kilometre Array (SKA) Industry Consortium, and has previously held positions as IBM NZ's Architecture Profession and Architecture Practice Leader.

Dougal's skill-set encompasses technical, strategic and governance domains, including extensive experience in Local Government, Manufacturing, Banking and Telecommunications industries.  He is a global specialist in information management, in particular the emerging field of the semantic web and currently has a patent pending in this field.  While at IBM, Dougal has worked extensively with worldwide IBM groups on emerging areas of Information Management, including creating and authoring IBM's Information Architecture, Information Management Strategy and Information Governance methods.

Dougal has a Master of Arts, Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science from Auckland University.  Prior to joining IBM he worked extensively in Europe in Chief Technology Officer and Lead Architect roles.  He is renowned for being truly innovative, responsive and forward thinking in client solutions, with a strong focus on governance, methodology and delivery.
