Dublin, Ireland - 31 Aug 2011:
Thirty five companies around Ireland have developed 3,235 community partnerships and donated over €17 million in cash donations, in-kind donations and employee fundraising has been donated to charities and community groups. This information is being captured on a new online interactive map entitled the “Business Impact Map” which gives a county by county breakdown of how much companies and employees supported their local community groups and charities in 2010.
Companies that participated in the map include, Abbott, AIB, Bank of Ireland, BT, Bord Gáis, IBM, Intel, KPMG, ESB, Diageo Ireland and Telefonica O2 among others. The map is designed to show the impact businesses can have on societal issues such as health, education, homelessness, social inclusion, disability and addiction and it is planned to inspire the development of further community and business partnerships.
The map was launched at a special event on O’Connell Street, Dublin and was supported by the European Commission Representation in Ireland as part of the European Year of Volunteering 2011. To celebrate the launch of the map, 35 participating companies came together to work on a community project. The map is updated on an annual basis.
Companies profiled on the map are: Abbott Ireland, AIB Group, Bank of Ireland Group, Boots Retail (Irl) Ltd, Bord Gáis, Capita Life & Pensions (Services) Ireland Ltd, Coillte, Deloitte, Diageo Ireland, EBS, Elan Corporation, plc, ESB, Glanbia plc, IBM Ireland Ltd., Intel Ireland, Irish Life & Permanent, Janssen Biologics (Ireland), Janssen Pharmaceutical, KPMG, Marks & Spencer (Ireland) Ltd, Microsoft Ireland, Musgrave Group, National Irish Bank, Nestlé Ireland , Oracle EMEA, PepsiCo, Pfizer Healthcare Ireland, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Rabobank, Savills Ireland, Sodexo, State Street International Ireland, Telefónica O2 Ireland, Ulster Bank, Vodafone Ireland Foundation.
