					IBM Australia and the Melbourne Institute of Applied Economic and Social Research, University of Melbourne, today announced the launch of the IBM-Melbourne Institute &#39;Innovation Index of Australian Industry’ second edition. The Study revealed that the annual increase in the rate of innovative activity in Australia in 2006 was only 0.7 percent, with only four industries experiencing an increase in the annual rate of innovation in that period: communication services; mining; finance; and the insurance industry.

					<title>Study finds Green IT low on Australian business agenda</title>

					IBM (NYSE: IBM) today announced the findings of an Australian research study examining the practices and attitudes of large Australian enterprises towards Green IT.  The study found that although nearly two-thirds (61 percent) of businesses have an environmental policy or strategy in place covering IT infrastructure, little more than a third of respondents (36 percent) believe that the reduction of carbon emissions from their IT infrastructure is a high priority for their business.
