Sydney, Australia - 26 Oct 2012: IBM (NYSE: IBM) today announced that its new production grade Cloud platform, SmartCloud Enterprise+ (SCE+) is now available and fully operational in Australia. The SCE+ platform will be hosted at the IBM Data Centre in Sydney, Australia, which represents IBM's seventh cloud centre globally to date, and will be the first to operate and serve IBM's SCE+ in the Asia Pacific region.
Representing the latest addition to IBM’s SmartCloud Services portfolio, SCE+ is designed and engineered to provide an unprecedented catalogue of enterprise class managed cloud services, and will act as an IBM SCE+ hub for Asia Pacific, especially for Australia and New Zealand.
Key features of SCE+ include:
- Fully managed as part of the Global Deployment Model, and hosted onshore at the IBM Data Centre in Sydney
- A multi-tenant platform giving clients access to capacity on high end computing resources
- Flexible provisioning options of multi-platform compute capacity, i.e. Wintel, Linux and AIX
- Designed to provide production/enterprise grade service with a choice of service level packages
- Full Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) integrated cloud managed services
- Monthly pricing and billing based on consumption
- Unique fee structure which enables clients to access any IBM SCE+ platform worldwide
“We are very pleased and excited to launch SCE+ in this market. This advanced Cloud solution brings together IBM’s extensive cloud technologies, deep process knowledge, and broad portfolio of software, hardware and integrated solutions. It excels in all the critical requirements of a Cloud solution – onshore and secure, managed service, enterprise grade, flexible, cost effective,” said Dean Evans, Cloud Computing Executive, Global Technology Services, IBM A/NZ.
“We believe SCE+ addresses both a solution and platform gap that currently exists in the Cloud market within this region. Particularly in Australia and New Zealand, there is both a readiness and need to move away from components and infrastructure and towards shared platforms and software - which are really where the tangible benefits of a Cloud solution come into play,” said Evans.
In addition to being a secure multi-tenant platform, the SCE+ platform can be deployed to service larger clients or a consortium of like-minded clients in a dedicated and completely private solution. By providing a production-ready, enterprise Cloud managed service environment, SCE+ completes the IBM SmartCloud portfolio, rounding out IBM's SmartCloud offerings in IaaS, PaaS, enterprise SaaS and private cloud solutions such as PureSystems and SmartCloud Foundations.
SCE+ is the most complete cloud IaaS platform available in the market, and represents the continued investment IBM is making in its SmartCloud strategy, both locally and globally.
