IBM GBS wins Queensland Government shared services contract

Sydney - 25 Jan 2008: IBM Australia (NYSE: IBM) today announced that IBM Global Business Services (IBM GBS) has been awarded a Queensland State Government contract to implement business solutions over the next four years as part of the Government’s Shared Service Initiative.

The Shared Service Initiative is aimed at reducing duplication by developing common business processes, consolidating systems and rolling out more efficient finance and human resource systems that support the operations of Government departments. It includes a finance suite (based on SAP), and a human resources suite (based on SAP, Recruit ASP, SABA and Workbrain).

Consultants from IBM GBS Australia’s human capital management, financial management and strategy & change practice areas will deliver a range of services including application development and testing, training and change management.

IBM’s first priority will be to implement the new human resource system in the Department of Education, Training and the Arts; Queensland Health; Queensland Corrective Services and the Department of Emergency Services.

IBM GBS Managing Partner, Ian Ball attributed several factors to IBM’s success.
