Tim Wong was appointed Vice President, New Client Acquisition in August 2012. In this new global sales leadership role he is focused on winning thousands of new clients for IBM and deepening IBM's business relationship with these clients. In addition, he helps shape IBM competitive strategy, investments, resource alignment and programs.
Prior to his current role, Tim was Vice President, General Business, ASEAN based in Singapore for three and a half years. In this role he was responsible for leading IBM's Enterprise, Mid-Market and Geographic expansion businesses.
Tim has held a range of industry leadership positions in Asia and New Zealand and has been based in Asia for over 16 years. These roles have included: Vice President, Business Partner Sales, Asia Pacific responsible for driving the growth of IBM’s business partner eco-system; Director, Digital Media Sales & Services; Director, Net Generation Business and Industry General Manager, Telecommunications & Media Industries, IBM ASEAN/South Asia.
Tim started his career with IBM in New Zealand as a Systems Engineer in the Banking Industry and has been with IBM for over 25 years.
Tim has worked, and lived, in Asia (Singapore, Hong Kong and Shanghai) since 1996 and is now based in Tokyo with his wife and three sons. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Administration (majoring in marketing) from Victoria University, Wellington, New Zealand.
