Full biography
Jeff Ferdinands brings more than twenty years of leadership, industry insight and IT client knowledge to his current position as Industry Director, Telecommunications and Energy & Utilities, IBM Australia and New Zealand (A/NZ).
Jeff has been in this role for over three years and has accountability for IBM's industry solutions, client satisfaction and business performance across the Telecommunications and Energy & Utilities client set. In addition, he is involved in helping shape the strategic direction of the IBM Australia and New Zealand businesses as a member of the IBM A/NZ Leadership Team.
Previously, Jeff was Business Unit Executive for Sector Sales in IBM's Systems and Technology division, a role that was responsible for setting the infrastructure strategy for IBM’s largest clients in the A/NZ marketplace. He was instrumental in increasing IBM's marketshare and growing the business at a time when the marketplace was contracting significantly.
Jeff joined IBM in 1986 as a graduate in the Melbourne Industrial branch and has held a number of Senior Management positions during his career. As Business Unit Executive, Industrial Sector, he was responsible for building IBM’s local capability in the Automotive industry and Chemical & Petroleum marketplace. He has also been responsible for running the mainframe hardware business in his role as Business Unit Executive, System z A/NZ.
Jeff holds a Bachelor of Electrical and Computer Systems Engineering from Monash University, and currently serves on the Board of the Foundation of Electrical and Information Engineering at Sydney University and the Energy Policy Institute of Australia.
