Director, Software Group, IBM Australia and New Zealand


Full biography

Tony Best is the General Manager for IBM’s Software Group in Australia and New Zealand. In this role, Tony is responsible for sales, marketing and operational support across all sectors and five software brands within the IBM software portfolio.

Tony has more than 20 years of experience with IBM, joining the company in 1985 as a university graduate. He has held a number of professional and management positions across sales, systems engineering, support and services.

Most recently, Tony was Director for IBM's Public Sector division, leading new business development and servicing customers in a number of Federal and State Government departments.

Previous to this, Tony was Director of Tivoli Software, Asia Pacific Software Group. During this time, he was responsible for sales, professional services, support, channels and marketing. Prior to that, he was based in Singapore for two years as the Director of Sales for Tivoli Software Asia Pacific. 

Tony established Tivoli Software Australia/New Zealand in 1996 on behalf of Tivoli Systems Inc. 

He has been the recipient of numerous industry awards including five IBM one hundred per cent clubs, four Tivoli one hundred per cent clubs, and the Tivoli Global President’s award for 1997 for outstanding sales performance and leadership.

In his role as General Manager of IBM Software Group, Tony’s focus is to continue the strong growth path Software Group has experienced in the last few years, and ensure the greater IBM team continues to provide combined technology solutions and services to its clients.
