Smarter stats for a better Open
For over 18 years, IBM has worked with the US Open to bring a better tournament to millions of tennis fans worldwide.
One of the best examples of the partnership is USOpen.org. Built and hosted by IBM, the official tournament site offers real-time scores direct from the court for every single match. You can also find updated statistics and video highlights of the day’s action, talk with other fans, and follow the US Open twitter feed. And on MyUSOpen.org, you can customize your tournament experience to get the most out of every match. Every year, the site keeps getting more popular. During the 2008 US Open, the site attracted over 9.2 million fans.
Of course, the partnership between IBM and the US Open doesn’t end there. Look below to explore some of the other ways IBM is helping improve your US Open experience.

Speed-of-Serve Radar
In order to keep up with 155 mph serves, IBM provides the Speed-of-Serve Radar. Radar guns behind the server record the ball’s speed directly off the racket. In under a second the information flashes onto courtside screens and it reaches the official Web site and the world’s TV screens a second or two later.
