Since 2006, IBM virtualisation technology has been able to consolidate 60 servers to six - six cool, green POWER p550 Express servers. This has reduced energy consumption by 40% and cooling load by 48%. As well as helping the Grand Slams achieve considerable improvements in energy efficiency, this has generated significant financial savings. While visits have increased by 26%, the cost of each visit has been reduced by 38% over the same period.
