Roland-Garros 2009. Efficiency in performance

Tab navigation

Roland-GarrosThis year Roland-Garros and IBM celebrate 24 years of commitment to tennis, technology and innovation. IBM is the sponsor of the 4 Tennis Grand Slams. This site showcases some of the business challenges IBM and Roland-Garros face and how they have solved them.

One of the best examples of how they have succeeded is RolandGarros.com - the official tournament site, hosted and run by IBM in collaboration with the Federation Francaise de Tennis. More than a website, it’s an increasingly interactive, engaging and personalised online experience that draws fans, players and the media in ever-greater numbers.

Whether the focus is courtside tournament data or data feeds for the official site, the partnership between Roland-Garros and IBM reflects their shared belief that talking about innovation is easy, but what really matters is being able to follow through. The teams are part of it. During the tournament period, FFT goes from 300 employees to up to 16,000 people. At IBM France, the team dedicated to Roland-Garros increases from 0.5 persons to up to 12 during several weeks.

A team of more than 50 IBMers from various parts of the world is totally dedicated to the tournament, to ensure solutions are working properly.
