Agency-wide management of assets
|
Protect high value or critical assets, including intellectual capital, with tags that enable wireless tracking from key entry points. Improve inventory control with wireless asset management. Establish better homeland security procedures for facilities, borders and points of entry.
The wireless asset management solution from IBM uses radio frequency identification (RFID), which uses tags or transponders that have the ability to store information and transmit data wirelessly in an automated fashion to specialized RFID readers.
When affixed to various inanimate or animate objects, tags can be read when they detect a radio frequency signal from a reader over a range of distances. Tags and readers do not require line-of-sight orientation. The reader then sends the tag information over the enterprise network to back-end systems for processing.
By improving the management of your capital assets, our solution can help your organization:
- Secure, track and enable asset readiness by improving asset management.
- Improve capture of warranty service information by proactively tracking equipment histories.
- Provide more efficient security measures to protect capital assets.

Limit your exposure
|
The wireless asset management solution from IBM can limit your exposure to security risks in relation to assets. By tagging high value or critical equipment—computers, maintenance parts, and others—you can track when an asset leaves a building.
There is the potential to also associate an employee with an asset to ensure that the appropriate person is removing assets from a location. In other cases, intellectual capital may be your agency's most important asset, so by limiting your exposure to theft security breeches can be minimized.
