Recognizing leadership in the area of retention management for compliance and governance, IBM announced today that the IBM Federated Records Management solution and IBM System Storage DR550 were named AIIM's “Best of Show” in the records management and hardware storage categories during the 2006 AIIM Expo Conference and Exposition in Philadelphia.
The fourth annual “Best of Show” Awards recognize the Enterprise Content Management hardware and software technologies on exhibit at the AIIM 2006 Conference and Exhibition that demonstrate exceptional capabilities and quality, and show evidence of significant return on investment potential. A panel of industry experts evaluated products in twelve categories.
“IBM's capabilities across software, hardware, storage and services help clients optimize their enterprise content management and leverage information as a strategic asset,” said Jon Prial, vice president IBM content management and discovery. “These awards recognize the benefits of IBM's comprehensive approach focusing on extracting value from data, a contrast to more narrowly focused approaches in the market today.”
IBM Federated Records Management provides enterprise-wide electronic records management. and enables organizations to manage and control all of their records-class content through one centralized records management application even when records are distributed across multiple, disparate content management systems. It provides the same robust records management capabilities for high-volume reports, data and print streams stored in specialized content repositories optimized for high-volume, such as IBM DB2 Content Manager OnDemand. The solution also enables clients to rapidly locate and access documents and records on demand for legal discovery and compliance purposes.
IBM System Storage DR550, IBM's next-generation Data Retention system, is designed to help businesses meet the growing challenge of managing and securing retention managed data and other critical information assets with operational efficiency. Using policy-based, non-erasable, non-rewriteable disk technology, it incorporates POWER5+™ microprocessors for increased performance and speed of data storage in order to deliver a central point of control for both regulated and non-regulated retention managed data.
As organizations address new regulatory and legal compliance requirements, they must ensure that necessary documents and records are available in their original formats and accessible when needed. The DR550 is an integral component to IBM's extensive archiving and data retention offerings.
