Virtual clients: a cost-effective option
Students expect and rely on the latest technology to help them prepare for the next step, whether it's extended education or entry into the workforce. But keeping track of computers scattered about campus is difficult. And keeping up with upgrades is costly. Stolen, lost and virus-infected computers result in unexpected additional costs. The virtual client solution for education from IBM offers a more cost-effective option.

Next-generation client computing
With the virtual client solution for education, IBM replaces your desktop computers with server-based thin clients. Your full desktop operating system and applications are virtualized on an IBM System x™ or IBM BladeCenter® server located in a security-rich managed data center environment. All of the data that would traditionally reside on desktop computers is stored on consolidated storage devices in the data center. Users can log in and access the complete desktop environment remotely from desktop thin clients placed in offices, classrooms and other areas on campus, or virtually anytime, anywhere with thin laptop devices.
The virtual client solution is competitively priced with traditional desktop deployments and can be economically deployed for as few as 25 users.
