The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction wanted to manage detailed information for 1.3 million active students enrolled in the public schools. They also wanted to maintain historical records that could be accessed quickly if a student returns for adult continuing education. The IBM state reporting toolkit solution helped them implement the first statewide, fully interconnected and integrated student information system.
The WISE system (Window of Information for Student Education) serves 2,250 public schools, connecting them in a seamless network to allow student transfers between schools and LEAs, state reporting and longitudinal studies. The software tracks student information such as:- Basic demographics
