Find the information you need, when you need it
Master data is the high-value facts that describe your core business entities, such as customers, suppliers, products, accounts and employees. Islands of master data lead to miscommunication of vital facts, misunderstanding of data by users and difficulty accessing data stored in multiple applications. Gain control of your data by using an application-independent resource to consolidate your critical business information.

IBM data management reduces errors, increases efficiency
A leading home electronics manufacturer used to assemble and share new product information between manufacturing, marketing and sales teams by email and Excel, which led to data errors and significant clerical effort to update SAP and other systems. Then, they implemented IBM WebSphere Product Center—a key component of the master data management solution—to manage the process of creating, enhancing and distributing product information among internal and external teams and applications systems. This solution reduced the time to create and maintain product information by up to 50 percent, saving about €5M per year, and improved product data for a faster time to market for new product introductions, delivering an estimated 3.5 percent sales increase.

Greater efficiency means greater savings
Inefficient or flawed master data management can cost you up to 3.5 percent lost sales revenue per year and up to 25 minutes per SKU, per year of lost productivity from manual data cleansing. But unifying your master data system can lead to:
- Up to a 30 percent reduction in the cost of onboarding new suppliers.
- Up to a 26 percent reduction in the number of purchase order errors resulting in incorrect shipments or invoice deductions from retailers.
For example, after a US$1.75B lawn and gardening supply company implemented the master data management solution from IBM, they saw a US$158M increase in cash from operations; were able to reduce on-hand inventory by 30 percent (US$99.4M); and improve order fill rates from 92 to 98 percent.
