Delivering key IBM software for teaching purposes through an automated, virtual, self-service environment
A cloud environment for academics
In 2010, IBM announced a new Academic Skills Cloud (ASC) offering, a pilot program to Academic Initiative members at 20 colleges and universities across the United States. In 2011, the ASC doubled usage in the US and expanded to more than 10 countries. In 2012, we grew to over 100 higher education institutions in 19 countries. Now, in 2013, we are pleased to share that this benefit is no longer a pilot and will continue to be extended to additional countries and schools in IBM's global network of Academic Initiative partners, which includes 9,000 faculty members at more than 4,500 universities worldwide.
Members participating in the ASC have access to IBM BigInsights and InfoSphere Streams, Cognos Business Intelligence, DB2, Informix, Collaboration software, Rational tooling, Tivoli Monitoring, WebSphere Application Server, and IBM Worklight Server on IBM SmartCloud Enterprise. There are plans to add additional software to the cloud catalog over time. Get the details about this Academic Initiative offering.
