Thanks to the generosity of IBM Canada employees and retirees, over
$3 million annually is distributed in support of over 1,200 Canadian charities through ECF.

The Employees' Charitable Fund (ECF) was established in the mid 1930's to give Canadian IBM employees a convenient way to support our communities through payroll deductions. We come together each October to celebrate giving where we live and pledge our support. Over the 81 years of ECF's existence, we have built a strong legacy of giving back to the communities where we live and work.

ECF is run by employees, for employees and supports over 80,000 not-for-profit Canadian charities currently registered and in good standing with the Canada Revenue Agency CRA.

When making a commitment to give during the campaign, flexible payment options are available through the @Work On-line Pledge Tool, including one time and monthly pledges via payroll or credit card as well as the details of your previous giving. Retirees can donate using hard copy pledge forms or donate online. As always 100% of your donation goes directly to the Canadian registered charity of your choice.

Every dollar donated through ECF goes directly to the charity or charities specified by the donor as IBM covers all administrative costs. Payment options include one time and bi-weekly payroll deductions, pension deductions, credit cards, and cheques. One time payments generate immediate e-receipts and payroll/pension deductions are itemized on the donors annual T4 slip.

The administration of the pledge is carried out jointly by IBM Canada Ltd. and United Way Toronto in conjunction with RBC Dexia (for pension deductions).
