Thomas Watson, Jr.

Makes a prediction - Additional information

Three months after joining IBM in October 1937, Thomas J. Watson, Jr., graduates as class president from Sales School No. 305 and receives a diploma from his father. He urges fellow graduates to "go out into the business world, not only as salesmen of business machines, but with the knowledge that we represent an international institution of which we can all be proud."

He later becomes an Army pilot during World War II, returns to IBM and is elected IBM president in 1952, 14 years to the month after graduating from Sales School.
