System/360 Model 20 (B) (1964)

System/360 model 20 (B) (1964)

In April 1964 IBM made the biggest and most important product announcement in its first 50 years of doing business: the launch of the celebrated IBM System/360. Here was a family of compatible computers that initially included 19 combinations of graduated speed and memory capacity in its central processors and incorporated more than 40 types of peripheral equipment. Soon after the launch, IBM began extending the capabilities of the System/360 upward and downward. This advertisement, published in the December 19, 1964 edition of Business Week, informed readers of the new small-sized System/360 Model 20 (IBM 2020) that had been rolled just weeks before.
