IBM Chairman Thomas J. Watson, Jr., dedicates the company's new corporate headquarters facility in Armonk, N.Y., on October 21, 1964. Standing in the north garden of the building's courtyard, Watson unveils a plaque inscribed "To the Men and Women of IBM Everywhere." Some 2,500 employees and family members attend the dedication event, consuming in that one afternoon approximately 5,000 cookies, 7,000 sandwiches, 60 gallons of punch, another 60 gallons of coffee and 300 containers of milk.
