Seen here in 1948 is IBM's World Headquarters at 590 Madison Avenue in New York City. The 20-story, 100,000 square foot building was dedicated in January 1938. It housed all executive functions, as well as the sales and services departments serving the New York area. This building was demolished beginning in 1977 to pave the way for construction on the same site, starting in 1978, of a 43-story, five-sided IBM regional headquarters. (VV2045)
