James E. Swaine, Jr., was the second general manager of IBM's Supplies Division. He joined IBM in 1946 in Chicago, and served in various sales posts until 1951, when he was recalled to active duty with the U.S. Air Force Strategic Air Command.

On his return to IBM in 1952, Swaine was made a special representative in Washington, D.C. Later he was assigned as branch manager in Portland, Ore., and in July 1956, he was promoted to administrative assistant to IBM's president.

Before named as general manager of the Supplies Division in 1959, Swaine was the division's director of marketing. He served as general manager until June 1964.
