| The IBM 3590 High Performance Tape
Subsystem Model A14 is a frame box that can be attached
to a 3495 Tape Library Dataserver or used for non-library
attachment of the 3590 to ES/9000 and ES/3090 systems.
Announced in April 1995, the 3590 can be used to
create tapes for archive files, backup and restore
systems in case of system/disk problems, store high-capacity
sequential application data sets, and provide off-site
data storage for disaster recovery. It allows higher
performance up to 20MB a second and uses a larger
capacity cartridge -- over 30GB with compressible
data. |
